How it works for a firm outside Dundee

You do not need to be near us. The first conversation is a free 15-minute call or a free coffee; the build is done remotely and you see working software every week; and because the code, hosting and domain are set up in your own accounts from day one, nothing about the work depends on where we sit.

If you are in Tayside or Fife and would rather talk in person, book a coffee. We come to a café near you.

Where we meet

Coffee meetings are available anywhere in Tayside or Fife. For example:

  • Fife: Dunfermline, Kirkcaldy, Glenrothes, St Andrews, Cupar, Leven
  • Perth and Kinross: Perth, Blairgowrie, Crieff, Pitlochry, Kinross
  • Angus: Arbroath, Forfar, Montrose, Brechin, Carnoustie

These are examples, not a limit. Tell us your town when you book.

The kind of firm it suits

Businesses of about 3 to 50 people whose work runs on a phone line, a shared inbox, a diary and spreadsheets: trades firms, pubs, hotels and caterers, dental, vet and therapy practices, and other small firms with jobs, bookings or quotes to keep track of. The first call is how we find out whether it fits.

More about how we work: custom software in Dundee.

A system we have built

A Dundee landscaping and garden-maintenance firm of about seven staff had jobs, the rota and the quote calculator in three separate spreadsheets. We built one web app for the office and for crews on their phones: customers, jobs, recurring maintenance visits, a rota, quotes, time recording and invoicing through QuickBooks. It is live. The owner's week is far easier: assigning and keeping track of work is a breeze, invoices go out from the same place through QuickBooks, and each customer's history sits in one place. We are not publishing time-saved figures, and the client is not named.

We are not VAT registered. Conditions apply to every refund or fix promise; they are in our written order terms (Scots law, business customers only), which come with every quote and which win over this page.

How a job runs

  1. A free 15-minute call, or a coffee

You tell us how the work flows today and what is slow or error-prone. No cost, no pitch deck. If a ready-made tool would do the job, we will say so.

  2. A written fixed quote

What we will build, what it costs, and a one-page Scope and Success Criteria Schedule so you know exactly what “done” means. The quote is free and yours to keep, whether or not you go ahead.

  3. Fixed-price build

We build to the quote and show you working software every week. The code, hosting and domain are set up in your own accounts from day one.

  4. Handover, and an optional care plan

A plain-English handover document is kept in your repository. After launch, Care or Care+ are optional.

Questions people ask first

Do you work with firms in Fife, Perth and Kinross and Angus?

Yes. Our service area is Dundee, Angus, Perth and Kinross and Fife, and we work with small businesses across Scotland. We are based in Dundee. Today our one live system is for a Dundee landscaping firm; we have not yet built for a firm in Fife, Perth or Angus, and we will not pretend otherwise.

Do I have to come to Dundee?

No. For a coffee meeting we come to you: anywhere in Tayside or Fife, any weekday 9:30 to 16:00, about 45 minutes, free, and Liam buys the coffee. If you prefer, the 15-minute call is by phone or video. The build itself is done remotely, with working software shown every week.

What if I need someone on site later?

Ask on the call. The standard way we work is remote, with the code, hosting and domain in your own accounts, and a plain-English handover document kept in your repository. If you want something different, say so before you accept the quote, so it is in writing.

How much does it cost?

Fix One Thing is £249, a single-job tool is from £749 and a business hub is from £1,490 (subject to written terms). The price is fixed for the scope written in the quote, with no per-user fees. The first conversation and the written quote are free.

Is it worth it for a firm with a few staff?

Sometimes, and sometimes a ready-made app is better. If a standard booking or job app does what you need, use it, and we will tell you so on the call. We are worth a call when your process has a twist those tools handle badly.

Who you would be dealing with

TurboKast Studio is run by Liam Humphreys, in Dundee. We build with AI coding assistants, directed by Liam and checked by automated tests on every change, which is how we can quote fixed prices below typical agency rates. You deal with one person, not an account manager, and the terms say what happens if Liam cannot continue (we do not yet have a named backup developer).
